Wall Hanging - Birds of Friendship

These batik wall hangings have been carefully replicated from the Book of Kells, 6th Century AD. Birds played a special role in Celtic culture & were believed to carry messages between the human and spirit worlds. The bird is also said to represent love and friendship. Similar birds with entwined necks can also be found on ancient Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) earthenware.
