Wall Hanging - Tree of Life
Trees were seen to be an important bridge between the three elements, earth, sky and water (fire was seen as a gift from the gods). The use of trees was primarily a religious one and The Tree of Life is said to symbolise friendship, harmony and unity with all creation.
This particular design comes from a stone fragment found in Jarrow, County Durham, 8th Century AD which we have carefully reproduced on our batik wall hangings.
